.dystopia & dysfuntion.

After my first half-week of teaching and a wonderful birthday weekend spent with family, I thought I would return to my blog to post these funky pictures of bookcases I found at a blog devoted to the appreciation of book covers. I stumbled onto it trying to find some information about the book cover shown here:

Scott gave me Margaret Atwood's Oryk and Crake for my birthday and I as have begun reading it, I am reminded of how much I love dystopian literature - these being a few of my favorites:
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Children of Men by P.D. James
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
**Personally, I think you should read Thomas More's Utopia to appreciate them!

So, without further ado, enjoy these photos of unconventional storage for books, taken from {http://covers.fwis.com/}

  1. Have you read that new novel by Upton Sinclair? I believe that it's called 1984. It's a wonderful overview of a dystopian society in the lower French Quarter during the eighteenth century. I think that you would really love it!

  2. Thanks Joyce! Are you thinking Upton Sinclair's The Jungle or George Orwell's 1984? Both provide different depictions of dystopian societies! Enjoy reading : )
